How GEA Brewhouse Works
At the core of the GEA Brewhouse is a fully integrated system that covers every stage of the hot process area:
- Milling: Using the MILLSTAR® Milling System, malt is processed with optimal husk preservation and minimal oxygen uptake, ensuring high extract yields and superior wort quality.
- Mashing: The MASHSTAR® Mashing System offers precision control for a homogenous and gentle mixing of mash, suiting different mashing profiles. Heating source options include satured steam, superheated water, heatpump water, combined heat and power plant water or also water from wort kettle or from wort cooler.
- Lautering: The LAUTERSTAR® Lautering System delivers up to 98.7% extract efficiency with reduced
lautering times (as low as 70 minutes), thanks to advanced raking technology and optimized wort flow geometry. - Wort Boiling: Choice of classic JETSTAR® (as the two-phase boiling system with its multilevel wort spreader for a gentler wort heating and more sustainable brewing) or the brand-new QBOIL® unit (which combines a fed-batch process, fractional boiling, and direct heat recovery to cut energy consumption by 35%).
- Wort Treatment: The WORTSTAR® Whirl system effectively removes up to 99% of hot trub for a clearer, smoother finish, while the WORTSTAR® Air unit gently aerates the wort, preparing it for fermentation at optimal oxygen levels.
- Automation: GEA Codex® is a scalable automation platform. It ensures safe operation, consistent product quality, and optimized performance—while simplifying data management and enabling global support for your control systems.
