GEA has used group-wide KPIs since 2016 to monitor its ESG performance. Each year, we report on material topics relevant to the company‘s economic, environmental and social impact.

Our performance

The ‘Platinum’ rating from EcoVadis places GEA in the top one percent of all companies worldwide for sustainability management.

GEA holds two CDP leadership rankings for performance and reporting transparency: an ‘A’ for tackling climate change and an ‘A-’ for acting to protect water security.

In 2024, GEA again made it to CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA) A-list. This award recognizes the commitment to implementing risk prevention and environmental protection measures with suppliers.

In 2025, GEA received a rating of ‘AAA’ (on a scale of AAA-CCC) in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment. (1)

Following the index review in June 2025, GEA remained in the FTSE4Good Index Series. This is designed to measure the performance of companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

In November 2024, GEA received a ‘B-‘ rating and its “Prime Status” was confirmed. GEA was recognized as an industry leader in its sector. (2)

In Dec 2024, GEA received an ESG Risk Rating of 13.1 and was assessed as having a Low Risk of material financial impact from ESG factors. GEA ranks in the 1st percentile (lowest risk) in the rated machinery industry. (3)

In 2025, GEA was recognized by Sustainalytics as an ESG Industry Top Rated company, placing it among the top 50 ranked companies in their ESG Risk Ratings universe. (3)

In the Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024, GEA ranks among the top 5% of its industry. GEA is a component of the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World and Dow Jones Best-in-Class Europe Index. (4)

GEA again makes CDP’s A list: top rating for climate action

GEA has once again earned a place on CDP’s A-List, ranking among the select few companies worldwide recognized for their transparency and climate action. CDP, formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project, evaluates companies based on their disclosures and actions to integrate climate-friendly decisions into their business strategies. In 2024, it assessed more than 24,800 companies, representing two-thirds of the world’s market capitalization.

SBTi validates 2040 net-zero target

The Science Based Targets initiative has validated GEA’s 2040 net-zero target. This is based on a scientifically validated assessment of the climate targets and the associated reduction measures. The SBTi validation confirms that GEA’s pathway to net zero is consistent with the Paris Climate Agreement.

Platinum Status: EcoVadis rating places GEA in top one percent of evaluated companies

GEA, a global leader in plant and mechanical engineering, has received the highest accolade, the Platinum Status, in the renowned EcoVadis sustainability assessment. With its score, GEA now ranks among the top one percent worldwide of assessed companies in 2024.
