Industrial effluents
Industrial effluents pose growing challenges for companies. GEA provides innovative, reliable, and efficient technology for eco-friendly treatment, reducing disposal costs while recovering valuable resources for significant savings.
In industries like food and beverage, refineries, steel, and paper, high water consumption during various production stages leads to substantial effluent volumes. These effluents can contain a range of pollutants, including organic and inorganic substances, dissolved or undissolved solids, and potentially harmful materials. As contamination levels vary across different effluent types, treatment technologies must be versatile to effectively address these challenges.
GEA sludge Decanters are designed to meet the highest standards of process reliability, hygiene, and environmental protection. Used globally for industrial effluent treatment, these decanters ensure optimal performance while minimizing resource use and maximizing cost efficiency. They efficiently separate solids, dewatering them to a pourable consistency while achieving high dry matter content. The clarified centrate can often be returned to the production cycle, while the dewatered solids can be recycled for valuable materials or disposed of cost-effectively by reducing their volume.
GEA also offers complete industrial sludge dewatering systems, equipped with necessary peripherals for flexible use. These systems are pre-assembled in lorries, trailers, or containers, and are ready for immediate use with automated functionality.
GEA provides highly efficient evaporation technology for environmentally friendly effluent treatment. This process concentrates industrial wastewater into high-level dry substances, with evaporated water being condensed and reused as process water. GEA’s evaporation plants operate using waste heat from peripheral systems, ensuring energy efficiency and demonstrating responsible resource management.

The decanter’s hour has come as soon as the solids content in the suspension to be processed is particularly high. These machines provide the benefits of high clarifying efficiency and maximum dewatering as well as the separation of liquids with the simultaneous removal of solids. The main requirements in this respect include a high bowl speed, a...

What if your favorite chocolate didn’t require cocoa beans and your coffee was locally produced? As climate disruption, price hikes and ethical concerns hit two of our most beloved indulgences, scientists are reimagining how we produce them – using microbes, not monocultures. The goal: preserve the flavor and properties of coffee and chocolate while minimizing carbon emissions and improving food resilience.
Ports now compete not just on logistics, but on sustainability. At Greece’s Piraeus port, an advanced processing and recovery facility recycles ship waste oil into fuel. Equipped with GEA’s high-performance centrifuges, it sets a new benchmark for state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible port operations.
The 2022 CO2 shortage forced breweries to review their dependency on global supply chains. Many were forced to close, unable to carbonate their products. At its breweries in Germany, OeTTINGER GETRÄNKE is turning its own CO2 into a powerful lever for independence and sustainability – with the help of CO2 recovery technology from GEA.
