Спирты
Спирты являются важными растворителями и исходными веществами для многих производств в химической промышленности.
Спирты с несколькими ОН-группами используются для полимеризации. За исключением природных спиртов, таких как, например, глицерин, спирты получают путем ферментации основных веществ, содержащих крахмал или сахар.
Спирты с короткой цепью, такие как метанол и этанол, концентрируются путем дистилляции. Спирты с более длинной цепью и более низкой летучестью пара могут концентрироваться в выпарных установках с падающей пленкой. Сепараторы часто оснащены промывными колоннами, чтобы максимально снизить потери продукта из-за паровой фазы.
Наиболее концентрированными спиртами в дистилляционных установках являются метанол и этанол. 2-пропанол и н-бутанол концентрируются в выпарных установках.
