La microparticulation a deux objectifs : elle permet avant tout d'utiliser les produits résiduels, puis à protéger l'environnement contre l'impact de ces produits, tout en éliminant la nécessiter de les mettre au rebut. Ainsi, le petit-lait microparticulé peut par exemple remplacer la graisse ou les protéines du lait dans nombreux autres produits laitiers.
