El fraccionamiento por proceso Cohn se realiza mediante centrífugas con cámara refrigerada fiables. Estos separadores funcionan en rangos de 300 a 1000 l/h. Hace tiempo que están establecidos en todo el mundo y han demostrado su valor con más de 400 máquinas vendidas para el fraccionamiento del plasma sanguíneo humano. El cumplimiento de un estrecho rango de temperaturas entre -3 y -6 °C es importante para el proceso. En los separadores clarificadores esto se consigue mediante circuitos de refrigeración.
