Food grinding capabilities beyond expectations
This robust industrial food grinding equipment is equally suitable for coarse and fine grinding of fresh and frozen meat. GEA PowerGrind is known for its modularity, hygienic design and reliable performance in food grinding.
The GEA PowerGrind family is a new generation of robust food grinding machines that focuses on performance, hygiene, safety and modularity. The design of the combined feeder and processing worm is the benchmark for grinding fresh and frozen meat, with better stability of the meat blocks, improved texture and less dust. GEA's two-worm design food grinder is available in Ø 200- and 280-mm versions.
Main product applications include ground meat for formed products, sausages, minced meat, pet food and ground frozen vegetables.
Design and performance you can rely on
Wide application window, high capacity
Perfect sanitation and safe machine operations
The GEA PowerGrind has a two-worm configuration, with independent drives for each worm. A slower rotating feeder worm gently cuts the frozen blocks in the infeed area, without generating excessive fines (dust), to preserve the quality of the ground meat and maintain yield. A second, faster-rotating process worm, with the relevant hole plate, produces the required granularity.
The auto-reverse feeder worm optimizes product flow by avoiding overfeeding. If the processing worm is overloaded, the patented technology will automatically reverse and start the feeder worm. Cutting tools can be replaced easily even when the machine is loaded.

The optional hard particle sorting system automatically removes bone chips, connective tissues and other hard particles with minimal meat loss. It collects and accumulates the particles at programmable intervals, then pneumatically ejects them before returning to its collecting position. The stroke frequency is easily adjustable to ensure an optimal ejection/yield ratio.
The feeder worm extraction tool has been designed for easy handling and sanitation. Using the cleaning trolley, the worm can be removed and (dis)assembled easily by one operator. With the unique hinged lining, this provides easy access for optimal sanitation.
The GEA PowerGrind is available with 3 or 5-piece cutting sets, including cylindrical or conical hole plates, solid knives or knives with inserts and a variety of pre-cutters with different shaped product holes. Extended tool life can be realized with the cutting heads featured in the FlexGrind system. These reduce re-sharpening costs by extending the operational life up to three times.
Add an optional fixed pre-cutter for extremely high-power grinding. It reduces pressure on the knives to reduce wear and heat build-up.
GEA offers fully automated production lines, ensuring consistent high-quality products and minimizing labor costs with full traceability. Using buffering and belt transport equipment to distribute emulsion, premix or ground meat, eliminates the need for manual handling and storing of dozens of trolleys in the preparation area.
This twin-shaft mixer is ideal for pre-mixing of emulsions and mixing for hamburger patties, meat balls, luncheon meat and ground sausages. The effective mixing action and high peripheral wing speed result in uniform distribution of spices, additives, liquids and effective protein extraction.
GEA mixers equipped with ColdSteam technology are designed to optimize the tempering of fully frozen raw material and prepare it for forming into premium quality products. The technology is fast, reducing tempering time down to minutes instead of hours, and is carried out in the same machine as high performance mixing, so only a single unit is re...

What if your favorite chocolate didn’t require cocoa beans and your coffee was locally produced? As climate disruption, price hikes and ethical concerns hit two of our most beloved indulgences, scientists are reimagining how we produce them – using microbes, not monocultures. The goal: preserve the flavor and properties of coffee and chocolate while minimizing carbon emissions and improving food resilience.
Ports now compete not just on logistics, but on sustainability. At Greece’s Piraeus port, an advanced processing and recovery facility recycles ship waste oil into fuel. Equipped with GEA’s high-performance centrifuges, it sets a new benchmark for state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible port operations.
The 2022 CO2 shortage forced breweries to review their dependency on global supply chains. Many were forced to close, unable to carbonate their products. At its breweries in Germany, OeTTINGER GETRÄNKE is turning its own CO2 into a powerful lever for independence and sustainability – with the help of CO2 recovery technology from GEA.
