GEA offers a range of technologies for container treatment that guarantee an effective and reliable ESL beverage production for cold chain distribution and enable the bottling of beverages with different pH levels (from high acid to low acid) on the same system.
GEA offers a range of technologies for container decontamination – which is an essential part of the Extended Shelf Life (ESL) bottling process – based on a vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) treatment for PET preforms (GEA Decontamination Blow Fill System ESL), PET/HDPE bottles (GEA Whitebloc Filling System ESL and GEA Whitebloc Filling System Aero) and closures (Sterilcap VHP and Sterilfoil VHP L) that doesn’t require water usage during production.
Filling and capping are performed in an ultraclean environment that is maintained during production with an overpressure of sterile air. Designed according to a ’scrap-free’ design that minimizes product wastage during start up, product changeover or shutdown, the GEA ESL fillers are available with magnetic flow meter or load weight cell installed on each filling head to achieve high performance in terms of accuracy and speed.

In case of prolonged Extended Shelf Life, special requirements must be addressed when decontaminating bottles for milk-based drinks and sensitive beverages. Using an H2O2-based treatment, Whitebloc is the low speed decontamination solution that best fits those needs.
The GEA Aerobloc Fresh is a modular platform that offers dedicated configurations for the hygienic filling of milk and sensitive beverages — with a short shelf-life and distributed in cold-chain — without requiring any container decontamination.
The GEA Whitebloc Filling System Aero is an efficient, water rinse-free, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-based decontamination technology for plastic bottles and caps, suitable to fill ESL milk-based drinks and sensitive, cold-chain distributed beverages.

What if your favorite chocolate didn’t require cocoa beans and your coffee was locally produced? As climate disruption, price hikes and ethical concerns hit two of our most beloved indulgences, scientists are reimagining how we produce them – using microbes, not monocultures. The goal: preserve the flavor and properties of coffee and chocolate while minimizing carbon emissions and improving food resilience.
Ports now compete not just on logistics, but on sustainability. At Greece’s Piraeus port, an advanced processing and recovery facility recycles ship waste oil into fuel. Equipped with GEA’s high-performance centrifuges, it sets a new benchmark for state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible port operations.
The 2022 CO2 shortage forced breweries to review their dependency on global supply chains. Many were forced to close, unable to carbonate their products. At its breweries in Germany, OeTTINGER GETRÄNKE is turning its own CO2 into a powerful lever for independence and sustainability – with the help of CO2 recovery technology from GEA.
