In addition to health monitoring and heat detection, the sensors now also provide reliable animal localization for optimal cow management. GEA CowScout monitors the entire barn and tracks the location of each individual cow around the clock. Whether accessed on a PC, tablet or smartphone, GEA CowScout transmits the exact position of single or multiple cows at the touch of a button and in real time. This reduces the workload of dairy farmers and saves valuable time for all their employees as well as for veterinarians and insemination technicians, who can also use GEA CowScout for easy access to essential information.

With the help of sensors and corresponding neck tags, GEA CowScout continuously monitors the location of each individual cow. (Image: GEA)

With the help of sensors placed below the barn ceiling above the cows and corresponding neck tags, GEA CowScout continuously monitors the location of each individual cow. Each cow’s position is shown in real time in the barn overview, which can display the location of a specific cow (based on its identification number) or even an entire herd. Whether you are trying to track down an individual animal for an upcoming insemination appointment, a veterinary examination or procedure or for an activity report requiring a visual inspection: flexible and mobile access to GEA CowScout speeds up the reaction time of all parties involved, thereby eliminating time-consuming rounds through the barn. This also reduces the stress level of the entire herd. The cow positioning function includes many practical features and is integrated into the heat detection and health monitoring applications. Existing GEA CowScout systems can be retrofitted with the positioning function.
