Developing the optimum spray drying process for larger-scale R&D or for small scale production requires safe, reliable equipment that is adaptable, and gives you reproducible, high-quality results, whatever your product, process, and feed type.
We’ve developed the PRODUCTION MINOR spray dryer as a great option when smaller scale units can’t quite meet capacity, but when you don’t need a larger commercial scale plant.
Ideal for larger-scale R&D spray drying
The GEA PRODUCTION MINOR spray dryer gives you the freedom carry out R&D and test processes at small commercial scale, as well as move on to manufacture for market your finished products at relatively small scale. Our versatile system can be ideal when you need larger volumes for product development, when it wouldn’t be cost effective to run a bigger, industrial spray dryer, or when you only need occasional or smaller batches of niche products. With regulatory compliant sanitary design as standard, the PRODUCTION MINOR is a go-to technology for our global customers in the food, chemicals and pharmaceuticals sectors.
| Nominal main process gas flow | 360 |
| Water evaporation capacity (kg/h) | 5 - 30 |
| Typical mean particle size (μm) | 10 - 90 |
| Space requirements, LxWxH (m) | 4.4 x 2 x 2.7 |
Standard, PSR and closed cycle spray drying systems
The PRODUCTION MINOR is really flexible, and we can configure standard, pressure shock resistant (PSR), or closed cycle systems to spray dry products using air or inert gas, whether your feed type is aqueous or solvent based.
It may be relatively small in stature and capacity, but the PRODUCTION MINOR spray dryer is highly featured and really adaptable. We’ve partnered with customers worldwide to better understand process needs in different industries, and have used this insight, in combination with our decades of expertise in spray drying across sectors, to develop spray drying technologies that support even the most complex processes and products, so you can innovate, push boundaries and negotiate challenges.Options and auxiliary equipment for PRODUCTION MINOR spray dryer
The PRODUCTION MINOR can be configured with a range of options and auxiliary equipment, including interchangeable atomization and powder discharge systems, powder cooling technology and external fluid bed units. Explosion protection and fire safety systems support the unquestionable need for personnel and plant safety. The breakthrough that changed spray drying
In 1976, NIRO engineers responded to a competitive challenge by rethinking what spray drying could do. Their idea became the multi-stage dryer MSD. Fifty years later, the same fundamental principle helps turn liquids into the powders used in essential nutrition products and important medicines around the world. Refined through decades of engineering expertise, customer insight and continuous development, MSD is a story of innovation with lasting impact.
