
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems for digital agriculture applications. The role involves managing complex development projects, supporting product lifecycle activities, and ensuring mechanical systems meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and manufacturing partners to deliver robust and reliable mechanical solutions.
Your tasks
Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosure structures based on project requirements and technical specifications.
Create and refine prototypes, conduct initial build and fitting activities, and support qualification of mechanical systems.
Develop test rigs and fixtures to validate mechanical performance, durability, and functionality.
Perform mechanical testing, document results, analyze data, and prepare detailed test reports.
Generate 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using tools such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and TeamCenter.
Select and define appropriate materials, fasteners, bearings, seals, and other mechanical elements.
Prepare manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions, and maintenance manuals to support production and service teams.
Ensure design solutions consider manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and serviceability, while coordinating with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
Support CE conformity procedures, perform risk assessments in line with ISO 12100, and contribute to safety-related machine evaluations.
Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
Assist in patent research activities and IP-related tasks when required.
Collaborate closely with electrical and software engineers, cross-site teams, and external partners to ensure integrated system development.
Support product lifecycle management activities, including maintenance, quality improvements, and technical issue resolution.
Prepare and review requirement specifications, functional descriptions, and technical documentation.
Maintain accurate master data within ERP and PLM systems.
Continuously expand technical expertise through training programs, trade fairs, and international knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Your profile
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or certified master/technician in mechanical engineering, or equivalent qualification
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, TeamCenter).
Experience in prototyping, tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T application, and design for manufacturability principles.
Knowledge of sheet metal design, injection molding processes, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics is considered an advantage.
Familiarity with SAP and PLM systems is desirable.
Good understanding of relevant standards, directives, and machinery regulations (e.g., CE marking, ISO machinery standards).
Experience with FEM analysis, simulation tools, and structured test validation methods is beneficial.
Self-motivated and structured working style with strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.
Strong interest in innovative technologies combined with practical engineering judgement.
Good written and spoken English skills.
Willingness to travel for business purposes, including international assignments when required.
Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems is advantageous.
Proficiency in MS Office tools for documentation and reporting.
