At the heart of modern GEA Digital Solutions is the GEA Cloud – the online data communication and management infrastructure that connects GEA equipment in our customers’ production facilities. As a discrete data network within the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), the GEA Cloud enables seamless and secure data transfer through special Edge gateway modules installed on the plant floor. These modules collect data from the equipment and transmit it directly to the GEA Cloud.
Within the GEA Cloud, a modern data science platform transforms and analyzes the collected data. The results are then made accessible through intuitive web applications, creating real added value by enhancing the availability, productivity, and sustainability of our customers’ operations. Furthermore, this secure online connection allows customers to monitor their equipment anytime and anywhere – whether on a desktop computer, tablet, or standard mobile phone.

At GEA, we are deeply committed to protecting all kinds of sensitive information for the benefit of our customers and partners. Both GEA Cloud and the Microsoft Azure technology at its base are ISO 27001 certified and have their integrity safeguarded by the Microsoft Defender system.
Moreover, GEA Cloud is designed to securely control the authorized use of data. Access to GEA Cloud components is role-based rather than group-based and follows the least-privilege principle, ensuring every participant has only the minimum user rights needed to perform their tasks. Different parts of the network are segregated from another to contain any security issues.
All data traffic is monitored by a firewall leveraging defined routing controls. Public endpoints to the system go through special gateways that secure these connections. The system is regularly tested to identify any threats and vulnerabilities. Thus, GEA customers can rely on robust protection of their data and full compliance with information security protocols.
