DairyRotor T8500 Rotary Refit

A performing rotary is within your reach.

Tough work. That's exactly what our rotary platforms are made for at GEA Farm Technologies.

New Zealand farmer milking cows through a DairyRotor T8500 rotary

In an industry that never stops a day, make sure you get the performance you can rely on for years to come.

With solid engineering, the bails are designed to take cows of all sizes and breeds and the on-platform automation means just one person can milk. This makes it possible for you to successfully improve cow comfort and lower labour requirements in your existing shed, without investing in a completely new rotary.

Better Cow Comfort

The bail design offers exceptional cow comfort by featuring adjustable rail positions, making it suitable for cows of all breeds and sizes.

One Person Milking

On-platform automation such as automatic cup removers (iCR+) and automatic teat sprayers (iSPRAY4) makes it easy for just one person to milk.

Low Maintenance System

The heavy-duty design means you can enjoy a low fuss system that's easy to maintain and hard-working.

Local farmer projects:

Selwyn Cleland - Dairy Farmer in Whakatane, New Zealand

After milking through a 14-year-old rotary for two seasons, Selwyn recognised that the existing setup was inefficient and underperforming. The outdated equipment meant they required two operators during milking – one person at cups on and one person at cups off. Issues such as malfunctioning cup removers and manual teat spraying further compounded the challenges.

Selwyn opted for a rotary refit with GEA in 2023. The objective was clear: streamline operations and enhance productivity. The refit included installation of automatic cup removers (iCR+), on-platform teat sprayers (iSPRAY4), pulsators (Autopuls S), vacuum line, cluster drop down system, and upgraded bails to accommodate the new equipment. Since the refit, Selwyn has seen significant improvements in milking performance.

Kapenga M Trust - Milking 800 cows through a 50-bail rotary in Rotorua, New Zealand

Kapenga M Trust sought to enhance their milking routine by upgrading their 25-year-old Rotaflo rotary with iCR+ automatic cup removers. This project posed unique challenges as the rotary was originally designed without allowances for additional cup removers.

GEA and Tokoroa-based GEA dealer, Fire N Ice, constructed a solution that allowed for the install of iCR+. The final design involved extending the front bail posts to accommodate GEA automatic cup removers, effectively modernising the dairy without compromising on cow flow and comfort. Since the upgrade, they have benefited from increased flexibility in labour requirements.

Graham and Adele Wells - Farm owners in Canterbury, New Zealand

The decision for Graham and Adele to refit their existing rotary ultimately came down to cost. The shed was built 30 years ago and whilst the building was still sound, the internals had done their time. This meant Graham and Adele were spending a lot on repairs and maintenance to keep the shed running. When looking at options, they chose to refit as the cost a fraction of that to build new.

Demolition of the old plant started in June 2021 to prepare the site for installation of automatic cup removers (iCR+), cow restraints (iCRS), automatic teat sprayers, and new bails to accommodate the new equipment. New wash and milk lines and pulsators with upgraded platform rollers, bearings and wear-strip were also installed on the platform. Since the refit, Graham and Adele are benefitting from improved cow health, better cow comfort, and an enjoyable milking environment.
