Timo Knappe – Head of Claim Management, Büchen and DPO, GEA Tuchenhagen GmbH

A GEA employee since: 2007

His three most pronounced character traits: reliable, fair, and helpful

His advice for going with the flow: “You should always endeavor to develop further, learn new things, and embrace challenges.”

Timo, what do you enjoy the most about your job?

“Making a significant contribution to customer satisfaction with my team and also solving our products’ problems with the customers, to permanently remedy them. I find technically working through and analyzing problems in a process technology setting especially interesting. Familiarizing yourself with the individual operating conditions while taking the requirements into account is always a challenge.”

In what way is what you do for a job important to everyone?

“That’s relatively easy to explain – nobody’s perfect, so there will always be problems. What you need is expert contacts who can help quickly and straightforwardly. We guarantee this for the products of GEA Tuchenhagen.”

For many people who are in need of support, actually getting the help they need is a matter of pure luck. How do you ensure that your team really can offer assistance?

“It’s essential that you understand the customers’ needs. If you fail to do this right from the outset, everything else is a game of chance. I therefore set great store by not being blinkered and by considering problems holistically, and I endeavor to do both. It’s often not the GEA Tuchenhagen product causing the problem, but its integration and its use within the processes. This is where we need to start, then finding solutions together with the operators.”
