Paul Scheres sees impressive animal health gains since upgrading to the iSPRAY-VISION.

For over thirty years, the Scheres family have been farming on their 140-hectare farm, Grangeland Farms, in Putāruru. Today, Paul Scheres leads a team of 2.5 staff, milking 520 cows year-round with 80% of the herd calving in autumn. Dedicated to running a productive and efficient operation, herd health is a top priority for Paul. When he saw room for improvement, he opted for the iSPRAY-VISION to help him achieve his animal health goals.

Prior to installing the iSPRAY-VISION, Paul was using another walkover teat spray system. While this system helped him maintain an efficient milking routine, it fell short when looking at herd udder health figures. High bulk somatic cell counts, and an increasing number of mastitis cases had Paul looking for a better solution. His search led him to the iSPRAY-VISION, which was installed in April 2025. Since then, he’s seen significant improvements to his herd’s udder health.

Just one month after installation, Paul noticed a dramatic improvement in mastitis cases. By the three-month mark, the farm’s bulk somatic cell count had also started to fall. “Since installing the iSPRAY-VISION in April, we’ve halved our somatic cell count. Previously, it was sitting at 300,000, and it’s now down to 140,000.” Mastitis cases have also dropped by an impressive 75%, resulting in significant savings on treatment costs.

In day-to-day operations, ease of use has been a highlight for Paul and his team. The walkover system runs on vacuum, automatically switching on when the milking plant starts, and off when milking finishes. If manual override is needed, the user-friendly interface makes it simple. The automatic nozzle wash has also been a standout feature. It keeps the spray nozzles clean during use to prevent blockages.

When it comes to service, Paul says the support has been great. If an error occurs with the system, the technical support team can remotely access the unit for diagnostic and repairs. This ensures a prompt resolution and minimises downtime to keep things running smoothly.
