Freeze Concentration
R&D Experience and expertise won over many decades, Test facilities available for laboratory and pilot plant testing for application development or sample production
Resulting from five decades of ongoing research and development work, tied with the experience gained through several thousand successful pilot tests and installed plants, GEA offers the broadest technical expertise and undisputed skill to develop applications, demonstrate the feasibility of crystallization processes and sample production.
Our pilot plants are designed using the same principles as the commercial units and provide reliable operational data. The test results deliver all the necessary information for scale-up and design of a commercial installation.
Tests can be executed at our test facility in ´s-Hertogenbosch in The Netherlands, where our skilled personnel will generate a suitable test plan and execute the pilot tests to meet client requirements.
GEA provides you with a detailed test plan based on the feed properties and your production requirements.
On a typical test program, the product will be tested to determine the following:
Tests can be run either at GEA's premises or onsite at the customer's premises with the aid of our Pilot Units.
GEA has a laboratory scale set up at their premises in 's-Hertogenbosch in The Netherlands, where we have the opportunity to do a first screening on new materials. Freezing point, viscosity and suspended solids content are measured to get a first impression of the suitability and likely concentration factors.
For the food and beverage applications, a flexible unit which can equipped with various different types of wash columns and filters, is available. The unit is highly automated and can be used for investigation of new products, sample preparation or training purposes. The dewatering capacity is 5-10 liter per hour.
