BBS series Semi-automatic Bulk Powder Fillers

GEA’s semi-automatic bulk powder fillers are designed to hygienically pack dry free-flowing food, dairy and nutraceutical powders or granulated materials into flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBC), big/jumbo bags and super sacks. Our Bulk Bag System (BBS) semi-automatic range is capable of accurately filling bulk bags at varying rates up to 12 metric tonnes/hr under hygienic conditions.

GEA has two models of semi-automatic bulk powder fillers - the BBS-S and BBS-D. These systems comprise either a single or double carriage configuration for handling and transfer of filled bags. The unique integrated carriage system permits filling while the bag is hanging, resulting in very stable bags and no pallets in the high care area. Our hygienic filling head design provides a dust tight connection and ensures that the bags are safely held and filled to a high level of accuracy. An inert gas packing option (Modified Atmosphere Packing) means that GEA can provide solutions to meet the needs of export customers who require increased shelf life for their products.

Bulk Bag System – Singe Station (BBS-S)

The BBS-S Bulk Bag System has a Single Operating station and utilizes GEA’s "top weighing" technology which provides an uncluttered, easy clean floor space. Our overhead carriage bag handling system supports the bag from the top bag loops throughout the entire filling process. 

Utilizing a single automated carriage system, the filled bag is transferred out of the high care area to the low care area where it is placed onto a pallet. This eliminates wooden pallets inside the high care area (high hygiene area).
This makes the system ideal for hygienic powder filling operations which are typically found in dairy and food ingredient plants.

Intended Use

  • Production under full hygiene condition where pallets are not allowed in filling area
  • No requirements for MAP
  • No requirements for bag closure other than “gooseneck/Cable-tie”
  • Application where stability of the bag on pallet is required
  • Separation of filling and palletizing area

Bulk Bag System – Double Station (BBS-D)

The BBS-D Bulk Bag System has a Double Operating Station and utilizes GEA's top weighing technology which provides an uncluttered, easy clean floor space. Our overhead carriage bag handling system supports the bag from the top bag loops throughout the entire filling process. Depending on the application the BBS-D can have a second motorized carriage added to help maximize bag throughput when a modified atmosphere packing (M.A.P) application is required.
Utilizing either a single or double carriage system, the filled bag is automatically transferred out of the high care area to the low care area where it is placed on a pallet. This eliminates wooden pallets inside the high care area (high hygiene area).
This makes the system ideal for hygienic powder filling operations which are typically found in dairy and food ingredient plants.
