The tilt for flexibility

GEA ScanMini

If you need to massage or tumble pork, beef, poultry and fish products, the GEA ScanMini is the most flexible and compact way for massaging and tumbling. By varying the tilting degree, the equipment can be placed in 6 different positions for maximum in-line flexibility while ensuring even distribution of the brine or marinade.

Massaging and tumbling with maximum operational flexibility

GEA ScanMini is a versatile, hygienic and user-friendly system for in-line massaging and tumbling. The drum can be tilted up to 230° during production, which gives you great flexibility, whatever your meat and seafood products or recipes. GEA ScanMini is designed to reduce batch processing times and features a special drum and carrier design combined with a large diameter semi-automatic lid. With a capacity of up to 1500 liters, the ScanMini carries out massaging and tumbling under continuous vacuum. This completely closed environment helps you meet optimum food safety requirments, and achieve great product consistency.

Main applications

Main applications for GEA ScanMidi - tumbling & massaging system

GEA ScanMini can be used for a wide variety of pork, beef, poultry, fish and seafood products.

High capacity, compact machine with a small footprint

  • Suitable for in-line or standalone set-up
  • Six working positions with up to a 230° tilt angle, for great in-line operational flexibility
  • Easy loading thanks to a wide (800 mm) lid opening, and fixed loading position
  • Option to load and/or unload on both sides, depending on process and production settings

Patented asymmetric carriers provide ultimate flexibility

  • Gentle ‘meat-on-meat’ massaging action helps to preserve the desired properties of sensitive products
  • High impact massaging for less sensitive products, can reduce process time
  • Cooling in carriers  to control temperature
  • Hygienic design with no hidden corners can be fully inspected

Advanced controlled process

  • Massaging and tumbling carried out under continuous vacuum to prevent oxidation and avoid foaming
  • Closed, vacuum environment helps to improve protein extraction, yield and color
  • Accurate temperature control, to help achieve better yield, and retain product quality
  • Vacuum loading of dry and wet ingredients

Specifications

Advanced technology
230° tilting

The GEA ScanMini can operate in one of 6 different positions, up to a 230° tilt angle. This gives great flexibility for in-line processes. By adding a GEA Columnloader, hoist or conveying system, you can also set-up automatic loading and unloading of the tumbler.

Dual massaging and tumbling action

During massaging (clockwise rotation of drum), the 4 asymmetric carriers give a gentle ‘meat-on-meat’ massaging action without lifting, which helps to preserve the product's original texture. During tumbling (anticlockwise drum rotation) the asymmetric carriers lift the product for agitation action, which commonly enables shorter processing times. Tumbling is commonly used for less sensitive products, such as larger and tougher muscles.

Add-ons

Complement your ScanMini system with additional equipment
Heat-chill technology

The optional heat-chill system uses a glycol-based heat exchanger to heat or chill the drum, and carriers. This can speed up the brine absorption process and reduce the overall tumbling time. The units can be equipped with either electrical, steam or ammonia heat exchangers, which gives customers great choice to match their requirements and budgets.
