The GEA SmartPacker TwinTube is a high-speed packing system that provides big productivity benefits, flexibility, and operational efficiency. With an impressive combined production output of up to 500 bags per minute and a re-enforced modular design, it is an excellent choice for high-speed, sustainable packing your sweets, nuts and snacks.
The machine is now capable of handling pillow bags up to 160mm bag width, and format changes for the entire format range are quick, simple, and require no tools. It can run traditional film bags, as well as mono material or paper-based bags, allowing you to demonstrate your sustainability credentials to customers in new ways.

Reliability you can count on
Dedicated design for high-speed packing
High efficiency with a small footprint
The GEA SmartPacker features an automatic detection system that senses the presence of product between the sealing jaws. When this occurs, the machine automatically creates a double bag to avoid contamination or damage of the cross-seal jaws and knife, resulting in less downtime and waste. In fact, only one double bag is lost during the continuous production cycle.
With automatic web tracking the direction of the film will be adjusted automatically when the film deviates from its path, due to - for example - variances in the film roll. Thereby it eliminates all manual adjustment. Ultimately this safeguards the quality of the resulting bags while saving on downtime.
The GEA forming set with insert is reinforced with fiberglass to provide extra protection and ensure a longer operational life, resulting in less wear and tear. The use of an insert allows for production of overlaps and tucked seams with the same shoulder. Additionally, each set has a rigid surface to ensure smooth running in moist or wet environments. The forming set can be ordered with your SmartPacker or as additional tooling, depending on your bag type demands.

Last year was not a year of hyped-up headlines for alternative proteins. Perhaps that is precisely why it was an important year for food biotech, the biotechnology behind everyday foods and ingredients. While the sector worked through a difficult funding environment, approvals were still granted, pilot lines set up and new platforms tested in the background. In short: headlines are turning into infrastructure. Frederieke Reiners heads GEA’s New Food business. She and her team work at the intersection of biotechnology and industrial food production. In this interview, she takes us on a world tour of food biotech in seven questions.
