Fluid bed technology is a core technology of GEA. We supply several different types of Fluid Bed units for application within food and dairy products, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. All are applied for drying and/or cooling of particles - powders, agglomerates or pellets - and for production of agglomerates and granulates from fine powders.
No matter the detailed application, the Fluid Bed is designed to process products as they float on a cushion of air or gas. The process air is supplied to the through a special perforated distributor plate and flows through the bed of solids at a velocity sufficient to support the weight of particles in a fluidized state. Bubbles form and collapse within the fluidized bed of material, promoting intense particle movement. In this state, the solids behave like a free flowing boiling liquid.
Very high heat and mass transfer values are obtained as a result of the intimate contact with the solids and the differential velocities between individual particles and the fluidizing gas.

The CONTACT FLUIDIZER Fluid Bed is the solution for very large-scale fluid bed drying of wet powder chemical bulk products. It has a compact design, high thermal efficiency, and low gas throughput.
The FILTERMAT® spray dryer efficiently and gently transforms heat-sensitive and difficult-to-dry products into free-flowing, agglomerated powders.
FlexStream is a new multi-purpose processor that addresses the current shortfalls of traditional fluid bed processing, including linear scale-up, fully contained loading and unloading for Pharmaceutical applications.
GEA Static Fluid Beds are widely used throughout the process industries for drying, cooling and calcining of powders, crystals and granules.
