GEA ValueJector

Overview

The GEA ValueJector is a robust, symmetric brine injector with constant product movement and even brine distribution from top to bottom. Equipped with product height sensing, excess brine is limited. Injection during down- and upstroke ensures high injection levels. There are two variations, one for bone-in products like whole chicken and one for boneless products like pork pieces.

Working principle
A walking beam moves the products a fixed distance of either 37.5 mm or 75 mm. The beam stops and injection cycle starts; if the
needle touches a bone, injection stops and the needle retracts into the airhead. A centrifugal pump feeds the needle head with brine from the filter tank. Excess brine is filtered in the tank, and re-used.

• Walking beam moves products to fixed distance (37.5 or 75 mm)

Performance
The GEA ValueJector is suitable for small and large, bone-in and boneless meat and fish products. Brine distribution is accurately controlled using advanced needle heads with individual needles that are automatically adjusted by air pressure. When a bone obstructs a needle, it retracts and stops injecting, avoiding brine pockets and bone damage. There is a choice of three needles (stepdown, standard or high capacity) to cater for various applications, brine viscosities and required injection levels. The injection level is accurately controllable from 8 to 80%. To ensure the right injection level, two needle patterns and two injection modes are available.
In the injection mode for low injection levels (positive down injection), all needles are opened before they make contact with meat and inject during the down stroke only. For high injection levels (positive down and up injection), injection takes place during the down and up strokes with all needles open.

• Injection level from 8 to 80%
• No brine pockets around the bone
• Strong and reliable
• Hygienic design
• Low cost of ownership thanks to ease of operation, maintenance and cleaning

Flexibility

To limit the amount of excess brine, the machine is equipped with a product height sensing system. As soon as the stripper plate touches the product it stops and the injection head activates the sensor to open the brine valve at that typical product height during the next stroke. The actual product height is continuously sensed stroke by stroke, leading to accurate control of the central inlet valve during the open and close cycle of the injector.

• Less brine return due to product height sensing
