Your responsibilities and tasks
The Process Engineer supports the design, development, and implementation of process systems within the Liquid, Powder and Chemical Technologies divisions. The role contributes to the successful execution of projects from early sales support through detailed engineering, commissioning, and optimization.
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing process designs, preparing engineering documentation, supporting procurement and installation activities, and assisting in commissioning and startup. The role ensures that process solutions meet customer requirements while complying with company standards for quality, safety, and environmental performance.
This position works closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to deliver technically sound and efficient process solutions.
- Support and develop production and process engineering solutions, from initial concept through detailed engineering and project execution.
- Prepare mass and energy balances, process calculations, and engineering analyses required to support process design.
- Perform the sizing, selection, and technical specification of process equipment and components, including pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, piping, and related accessories.
- Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and provide process engineering input to plant layouts and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
- Prepare equipment and instrument data sheets, technical specifications, and other engineering documentation required for procurement.
- Develop process and functional descriptions to define process control and automation requirements, including technical support during software Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Contribute to pre-engineering activities, cost estimation, technical evaluations, and project schedule planning to support effective project execution.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, Procurement & Logistics, Mechanical, Electrical & Automation Engineering, other Process Engineers, suppliers, and global Core Technology Centers (CTCs).
- Support the procurement lifecycle, including technical bid evaluation and equalization, preparation of purchase requisitions in SAP, management of technical deviations from Purchase Orders, and coordination with Logistics regarding material delivery and expediting.
- Participate in order and technical clarification meetings, ensuring that engineering solutions comply with customer specifications, contractual requirements, and process design criteria.
- Support water and product trials, commissioning, start-up, performance verification, and operational support at customer sites.
- Ensure process solutions comply with internal engineering standards, hygienic design principles, and applicable industry and regulatory requirements, including EHEDG and 3-A requirements where applicable.
- Participate in process risk assessments, including HAZOP studies, while ensuring compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements.
- Prepare as-built process documentation at project completion, ensuring that final engineering documents reflect the installed solution.
- Support technical training to customers and support the development of other engineers through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and training.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal engineering standards, tools, methods, and procedures.
Travel up to 25–40% depending on project phase/site work; ability to support shop/field activities following safety practices
Your profile and qualifications
- Degree in Food Engineering, Chemistry, or Industrial/Production Engineering
- Specific knowledge of liquid processing in general, brewing process, Beverage, Dairy, Pasteurization and Sterilization, Fermentation, CIP/SIP of equipment and lines, Liquid Dissolving and Mixing, Filtration, Dosing, among others.
- Ability to lead commissioning and start-up
- Communication skills and good interpersonal relationships
- Ability to work in a team
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
- Good knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project, and SAP
- Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO, and NR (Brazilian workplace health and safety regulations).
