Feasibility studies

For complex separation challenges, a feasibility study is often the first step in identifying the most effective process strategy. At our test center, we help customers evaluate: Distillation and rectification performance Solvent recovery and purification Removal of volatile compounds Product concentration Separation of complex multicomponent mixtures Recovery of valuable process streams Treatment of difficult, viscous or foaming products Using only small product volumes, our experts generate process data that supports informed process selection and plant design.

Pilot testing

Pilot-scale trials provide critical insight into distillation performance under realistic operating conditions. The resulting data supports reliable process optimization and scale-up while helping to reduce project risk. Our pilot plants enable evaluation of: Column internals and separation efficiency Reflux ratios and operating conditions Product quality and purity targets Energy requirements and heat integration concepts Fouling tendencies Foaming behavior Process stability and controllability The process data generated during testing feeds directly into plant design and performance calculations for commercial installations.

Analytical services

Reliable product characterization is essential for accurate process development and design. Our laboratories can determine critical physical and chemical properties, including: Viscosity Boiling point elevation Dry matter content Thermal conductivity Product composition Component concentrations Advanced analytical techniques such as GC and HPLC enable detailed characterization of feed streams, intermediates and final products.

Digital process simulation

In addition to physical testing, GEA uses advanced process simulation tools to evaluate plant performance and optimize system configurations. By combining experimental results with digital modeling, we can: Predict scale-up behavior Compare process alternatives Optimize energy efficiency Evaluate operating scenarios Refine plant configurations before implementation This integrated approach helps reduce uncertainty and accelerate project development.

Was Wasser wirklich kostet
