In 2023, the Moscript family made a bold investment in the future of their dairy operation by installing a 60-unit GEA DairyRotor T8500 Rotary Milking System. Featuring iSPRAY4 in-bail teat sprayers, automatic cup removers, and advanced milk metering, the upgrade has transformed their daily operations—tripling milking capacity while reducing labour by two-thirds.
Since the installation, the Moscripts have nearly doubled their herd to 550 cows and report a 2.7% year-to-date increase in per-cow production, even during a dry autumn. The GEA system has enabled them to milk three times as many cows per hour with just a third of the labour, while improving cow comfort and health monitoring.
“Our team just love it. The cows are comfortable, and we’re seeing the benefits in production and efficiency,” Callum added.
The GEA DairyRotor T8500 is designed specifically for pasture-based dairy farming and is known for its low maintenance, low running costs, and ability to be operated by just one milker—making it ideal for Australian conditions.
The Moscript family has also expanded their land and built a yard capable of holding 1,000 cows, positioning themselves for long-term growth. With sons Callum and Blake now actively involved in operations, the investment in GEA technology has created a platform for next-generation farming.
They’ve also invested in additional automation equipment including a Vacuum Pump, Flush Valves, and a Flush Pump on Pontoon, supporting sustainable and efficient operations.
Now, with Callum and Blake taking the reins and technology supporting daily operations, Chris and Janine are looking forward to their next chapter.
“We’re planning a trip to Europe,” Chris smiled. “It’s a good feeling knowing the farm is in capable hands.”

The GEA system was installed and is maintained by Gippsland Dairy Professionals, GEA’s trusted local dealership based in Korumburra, Victoria. Their hands-on support and deep understanding of regional farming needs have been instrumental in the success of the Moscript upgrade.
