Operating Principle of GEA meatMaster decanters - Flexible separation concepts
Depending on the application and desired end product, GEA meatMaster decanters are available in two configurations:
- 2‑phase (clarification): Separation of solids from a single liquid phase
- 3‑phase (separation): Simultaneous separation into two liquid phases (light and heavy) and solids

Spray nozzles
Spray nozzles clean the bowl inside and outside.
Double-walled feed pipe
The double‑walled feed pipe enables cleaning of the scroll body and centripetal pump zones.
Box distributor
The box distributor with straight, simple geometry ensures highly effective CIP cleaning.
CIP cleaning
During CIP, controlled speed changes create turbulences so the cleaning liquid reaches every corner of the bowl and scroll.
Deep pond design for higher efficiency
The deep pond bowl design creates higher pressure on separated solids, resulting in:
- Improved clarification performance
- Higher dry solids content
- Reduced energy consumption due to discharge at smaller diameters compared to shallow pond designs
External gearbox for maximum product safety
The processing area and drive section are structurally separated. External gearboxes are protected from hot product temperatures and ensure:
- Higher operational reliability
- Longer gearbox lifetime
- No risk of lubricant contamination of discharged solids
