Our Add Better label calls attention to GEA solutions that are significantly better than their predecessor product when it comes to efficiency and environmental impact. These belong to our most resource-efficient solutions – this is sustainability value.

Transparency: The extra mile with TÜV validation

ISO 14021 defines a number of stringent requirements for our Add Better label. But it does not require validation by TÜV. GEA took this additional step on its own. Why? Because we are engineers. We wanted to get our evaluation processes right, benefit from TÜV’s input, and let our stakeholders know that transparency is our priority with Add Better.

GEA‘s Add Better solutions

Aseptic blower

Compared to its predecessor, the special air recovery system of GEA’s ABF 2.0 uses 31% less energy for bottling. It compresses the air that is needed for blowing process and cap sterilization.

Aseptic filler

The new water rinsing unit of the GEA EcoSpin2 Zero achieves massive water savings of up to 91% when installed as new machinery and 83% when upgrading the installed base.

Automated milking

GEA’s DairyRobot solution for automated milking requires up to 19% less energy than its predecessor.

Centrifuge cooling

The GEA Centrifuge Water Saving Unit reduces the cooling water consumption for separators by 100% compared to conventional cooling.

Craft Beer Separator

The GEA plug & win i separator feature a new integrated direct drive which reduces the energy consumption by up to 10 % compared to its previous model.

Homogenization valve

The NanoVALVE improves viscosity and stability in food, dairy, beverage and chemical emulsions, consuming 20% less energy than previous versions.

Marine separation

GEA’s high-efficiency Marine Separator with integrated direct drive transfers energy directly to the bowl to reduce energy consumption by 9% over the predecessor model.

Membrane filtration cleaning

GEA Smart Filtration CIP is a software-based method of operating pumps while cleaning membrane filtration plants in a pulsating way, consuming up to 46% less energy.

Milk and Whey Separation

The new GEA Advanced Water Supply of the Separator Series MSI enables a process-oriented reduction of cooling and operating water consumption by minimum 48%.

Spray dryer optimization

By applying advanced model-predictive control, GEA OptiPartner improves process stability and capacity utilization in spray drying. This translates to higher productivity and typically 10% lower energy use.

Spray drying

A heat pump solution for spray dryers, AddCool allows milk powder producers to reduce energy consumption by up to 49%.

Tunnel oven

The electric oven retrofit kit GEA E-Switch-Bake enables bakeries to switch from high-consumption gas ovens to more sustainable electric options, saving up to 14% of energy.

Valve control

GEA’s electronic LEFF® function on top-tier T.VIS® A-15 valve control tops can conjure up to 92% reduction in the amount of water and cleaning agent used during valve seat cleaning, simply by optimized control of the lift movement with the effect of shorter activation time and increased intensity of flushing.

Hygienic twin screw pump

The high-performance GEA Hilge NOVATWIN+ saves an average of 13% energy compared to its predecessor model thanks to its higher efficiency with a smaller pump.

Future focused label

Our Add Better portfolio is constantly growing. GEA collaborated closely with TÜV to develop a rigorous data collection, calculation and documentation process that can now be used to assess a wide range of GEA solutions and expand our Add Better portfolio.
