Employees toasted their new workplace at a housewarming party in late August.
At its core, the headquarters is about more than walls and workstations – it is about enabling people to thrive. By bringing teams together under one roof, the building creates a culture of collaboration that encourages dialogue, innovation and shared purpose. At the same time, its state-of-the-art design makes sustainability tangible in everyday operations, reducing environmental impact and demonstrating GEA’s commitment to protecting resources. And with its inviting architecture, vibrant surroundings and considered integration of work and community life, the new location enhances GEA’s attractiveness as a place where talents feel welcome, valued and motivated to build their future.

The beautiful design, carried out by the architectural firm caspar.schmitzmorkramer and spatial and interior design company two_space+product, significantly enhances cross-functional collaboration. By uniting previously dispersed central, divisional and country teams under one roof, the new building shortens communication paths while fostering a culture grounded in openness, dialogue and personal responsibility. The workspace offers a flexible, open-plan layout complemented by quiet rooms, collaborative zones, meeting areas and communal spaces – including a canteen and roof terrace – that encourage spontaneous interactions and creative exchange.
Johannes Giloth
Chief Operating Officer, GEA
The new office demonstrates GEA’s commitment to environmental responsibility through sustainable construction and smart resource use. Awarded LEED Gold certification and compliant with the Efficiency House 55 standard, the building integrates photovoltaic installations atop greenscaped roofs. It is connected to a local district heating network which is fueled predominantly (≥ 90%) by waste-to-energy systems. Rainwater retention solutions, AI-driven electricity consumption analytics and a robust charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, bicycles and cargo bikes round out the features that contribute to the site’s efficiency and low environmental impact. The pedestrian-friendly, socially inclusive neighborhood is part of an urban renewal project, with GEA’s headquarters providing a thoughtful anchor that prioritizes and respects green space, cultural identity and sustainable land reuse.
Stefan Klebert
CEO, GEA
Beyond its functional and green credentials, GEA’s new corporate hub significantly elevates the company’s attractiveness as an employer. It is positioned in a vibrant urban quarter that follows the 15-minute city concept: with living, working, mobility and amenities all within walking distance. The building’s appeal stems not only from the architecturally refined materials used, such as natural stone, exposed concrete and wood veneer, but also from its connectivity and superb placement within the urban landscape.
