Single-seat Valves
VARIVENT® single-seat divert valves are used for simple divert functions in hygienic applications. The valves are characterized by their ease of operation and flexibility. The individual variants are designed for different flow directions.
Single-seat switch valves are suitable for separating and distributing fluids. There is only one seal for each switching rod in the valve disc, which separates the respective pipelines from one another. Single-seat switching valves are therefore not suitable for separating incompatible fluids.
Feature | Type | |
Product merging | Modular system | Single-seat valve, type W |
Product merging | With optimized maintenance,
radial sealing | Single-seat valve, type W_R |
Product merging | Long-stroke valve for viscous products or products with
large particles | Single-seat long-stroke valve,
type W_V |
Product distribution | Modular system | Single-seat valve, type X |
Product distribution | With optimized maintenance, radial sealing | Single-seat valve, type X_R |
Product distribution | Long-stroke valve for viscous products or products with
large particles | Single-seat long-stroke valve,
type X_V |
To avoid water hammers when closing one path while the product is flowing, single-seat divert valves should be switched against the flow direction of the product if possible.
The single-seat divert valve type W is used for merging products from two pipelines, whereas valve type X has been designed for product distribution. The valves are characterized by their ease of operation.
In practice, these valves are frequently used in CIP supply and return lines. One typical application is also found at the end of a valve block in which the valves are fitted as divert valves between the process line and the drainage (e.g. during pushing out).
VARIVENT® long-stroke valves are used for manufacturing products with relatively large particles or for viscous products, such as strawberry yoghurt.
The structure of the VARIVENT® modular system means that different valve configurations (closing direction of the valve disc) and numerous options are available. Please refer to the options section in the catalog for information about these.

ECOVENT® single-seat divert valves are used for simple divert functions in hygienic applications. The valves are characterized by their ease of operation.
LoTo solutions for our pneumatic seat valves offer you the right choice in any situation. Use an easy-to-apply AIR LOCK to cut off the control air connection. Or replace the feedback system with a sturdy DISK LOCK to safely block valve action.
GEA VARIVENT® Divert valves - Product merging and distribution
Ports now compete not just on logistics, but on sustainability. At Greece’s Piraeus port, an advanced processing and recovery facility recycles ship waste oil into fuel. Equipped with GEA’s high-performance centrifuges, it sets a new benchmark for state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible port operations.
The 2022 CO2 shortage forced breweries to review their dependency on global supply chains. Many were forced to close, unable to carbonate their products. At its breweries in Germany, OeTTINGER GETRÄNKE is turning its own CO2 into a powerful lever for independence and sustainability – with the help of CO2 recovery technology from GEA.
In a shifting political and economic landscape, GEA stays the course. We spoke with Dr. Nadine Sterley, GEA’s Chief Sustainability Officer, about why sustainability remains central to the company’s business strategy, how GEA is progressing on its ambitious goals and what it takes to turn words into action.
