Preassembled and multi-purpose pasteurizers
Pasteurization systems built on GEA tubular heat exchanger technology for your liquid food products.
Pasteurization is an essential step in manufacturing a wide range of liquid food products, such as ketchup, jam, mayonnaise, honey, and much more. And while every manufacturer expects their pasteurization systems to provide safe, effective heat treatment, here at GEA we also know that every customer will have different needs.
Founded on decades of GEA know-how and expertise in developing equipment and complete lines for processing liquid foods, we’ve developed a portfolio of pasteurizers that can be customized for just about any liquid food application. Tailor-made for each customer, our hygienic, effective pasteurizers use energy-efficient tubular heat exchanger technology that is gentle on even highly viscous products and those with particulates, such as vegetable pieces or fibers. We can configure pasteurization units to match your capacity and production scale, from pilot units up to industrial systems operating at throughputs of up to 20,000 kg/h. And we can also design and install end to end process lines for liquid food products.
GEA pasteurizers provide user friendly design allowing easy access to all components. Inspection and maintenance can therefore be carried out with minimal downtime.
We understand how important it is to focus on saving and recycling energy and water, reduce emissions and waste and cut carbon footprint, so we’re also developing solutions that could help to make your process more sustainable.
Heat recovery units engineered as standard into our pasteurizer systems can recover up to 60% of heat energy from the plant. And where suitable, optional GEA heat pump technology could potentially let you switch off your fossil fuel boilers, and so significantly reduce carbon footprint. We start by looking at your plant’s heating and refrigeration infrastructure to see where heat pump technology could be installed to capture and amplify waste heat energy and channel that recycled heat to generate 95°C water for the pasteurizer, as well as provide hot water for cleaning-in-place (CIP). Combining heat pump technology with the pasteurizer’s integral heat recovery unit could feasibly allow you to meet all the plant’s energy requirements without the need to generate steam for heating the water.
Hygienic by design to comply with stringent regulation for food production, GEA pasteurizers are also user friendly. Easy access to all components means that regular inspection and maintenance can be carried out with minimal hands on time, and so increase equipment uptime.
Our GEA CODEX® automation platform seamlessly manages GEA pasteurizer operations and control throughout the entire process line, ensuring effortless training for personnel in operating GEA pasteurizers.
GEA also offers a range of service packages that will support you and your technology for the lifespan of the plant. Our experts can be always on hand for advice or to help troubleshoot, whether your system is configured for remote access, or we visit your site. And it’s commonly simple to adapt, expand or upgrade GEA pasteurizer plants as we launch new components and release upgrades, or when you want to expand and diversify.
At our GEA test center in Ahaus you can trial your products on pilot scale GEA pasteurizers and on complete, integrated lines. Our industry, process and technology experts are there to help you define and configure the optimum equipment for your processes. We can aid with scale up so you can be confident that your GEA equipment will give you great results, from day one.
Digital transformation at GEA means more than new tools – it’s about bold ideas, customer impact and a culture that values and drives innovation. Meet this year’s GEA Better World Awards Innovation & Digitalization winners who were celebrated for solutions which are shaping the future of our business.
While the initial interest in heat pumps was to save on operating costs, reducing emissions is now the main driver for the technology. What if your favorite chocolate didn’t require cocoa beans and your coffee was locally produced? As climate disruption, price hikes and ethical concerns hit two of our most beloved indulgences, scientists are reimagining how we produce them – using microbes, not monocultures. The goal: preserve the flavor and properties of coffee and chocolate while minimizing carbon emissions and improving food resilience.
