For GEA, the commitment is special: "We want to make an effective contribution to the education of the younger generation in particular, because equal opportunities are a sustainable starting capital for a good future for children in need," explains Dr. Nadine Sterley, Chief Sustainability Officer at GEA.
Sustainability is the first pillar of GEA’s Mission 26 corporate strategy and is fundamental to all decisions made in the company. This includes promoting integrity and fairness, such as inclusive, equitable and quality education for all as presented in the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
Before the fundraising gala, an "Ein Herz für Kinder" child reporter Ariana visited the GEA production site in Biedenkopf-Wallau. Around 380 employees there manufacture state-of-the-art meat processing and packaging machines for the food industry and do so in an inclusive collaboration. A branch of the national charity for disability support Hinterländer Werkstätten (Dautphetal) of the Lebenshilfewerk Marburg-Biedenkopf e. V. is located directly on the company premises. For over 40 years, their workshops have been offering people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in working life through vocational training, personal development and a wide range of work activities.
The aid organization BILD hilft e.V. "Ein Herz für Kinder" has been in existence for 45 years. Since then, the organization has been able to help children all over the world with more than EUR 482 million. The special thing about it: Every cent of the donations goes directly to children's aid projects - without any deductions.
GEA is one of the world’s largest suppliers of systems and components to the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
