  • GEA Environmental Decanter: Efficient waste water treatment that generates resources for communities, industry and agriculture
  • GEA varipond® success story: Fully automatic control control system to guarantee preliminary dewatering and thickening of primary and secondary sludge in stable concentrations.

Düsseldorf (Germany), April 30, 2018 — For 125 years, technology group GEA has been setting international standards for cost- optimized, energy and resource-conserving  sludge thickening, pre- and final dewatering, with its decanter centrifuges as core technology. “We help to protect, feed and power the world” will be GEA's core theme at environmental technologies trade fair IFAT, held this year from 14 to 18 May at the Munich exhibition center. GEA will be exhibiting its innovative solutions that combine environmental protection with high social benefits and cost effectiveness  — in particular, its optimized environmental Decanter lines, which represent new, sustainable solutions — vitally needed given the shortage of water as a raw material. GEA environmental Decanters have been specially developed for use in municipal and industrial waste water treatment, and for treatment of manure and fermentation residues. Their advantages? Not only do they have high throughput capacity and provide maintenance-free, energy-saving operation, but GEA environmental Decanters also ensure excellent process results and guarantee economically-sound sewage treatment plant operation.

GEA environmental Decanters have been developed following extensive market analyses  and offer efficient, economical solutions for municipalities, industry and agriculture, by generating  valuable reusable materials and energy from sludge, manure and fermentation residues. This makes waste water very interesting as a recyclable resource for generating energy and reusable materials. Instead of having costly waste water management systems which consume a lot of energy, new sources of income are generated.

At the GEA stand in hall A1 (stand number 451), interested visitors can also find out about other GEA products, solutions and components — whether new developments or tried and tested solutions. GEA products really achieve the best of both worlds: municipalities, industry and agriculture can reduce operating costs while at the same improving product quality and yield — over longer time periods and with higher availability.

GEA environmental Decanter lines — safeguarding our resources

GEA environmental Decanter lines pro and prime are particularly interesting thanks to their efficient plug & play technology, not to mention GEA's Service & Support offer with authorized workshops and original replacement parts directly at your site.

GEA environmental Decanter pro is ideally suited to plug & play integration in standardized processes with little need for adaptation to achieve optimal performance, plus economical investment and has low life-cycle costs. Thanks to a high level of standardization, it is possible to guarantee rapid delivery times. GEA offers the environmental Decanter pro in nine machine sizes with throughput capacities ranging from 1 m³/h to 120 m³/h — also available as skid, mobile or retrofit solutions.

GEA environmental Decanter prime, on the other hand, offers fully individual solutions for highly complex preparation processes and large capacities, providing excellent performance. The prime line boasts seven machine sizes with  a throughput  range from 15 m³/h to 300 m³/h.

The prime line makes use of GEA's patented, fully automatic varipond® control system — including an easy-to-fit retrofit solution. The system is a true success story, for it ensures reliable, cost-effective preliminary dewatering and thickening of primary and secondary sludge in stable concentrations, even subject to fluctuating feed conditions. As a further advantage, varipond® ensures energy-efficient, resource-efficient decanter start-up and shut-down subject to variable pond depths, without liquids overflowing to the solids side, and all the while using the maximum g-volume. To complete the attractions of the varipond® package, the design has a smaller number of parts and thus reduced maintenance requirements. The result: reliable, highly efficient, and extremely economical GEA decanters. They will be particularly appreciated by those responsible for municipal sewage treatment plants.
