We are expanding our team within the Liquid and Powders Division based in Warrington and are currently seeking a Technical Service Proposals Engineer to join us.
In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, development, and delivery of comprehensive proposals for service contracts, large spare parts packages, process audits, and process upgrades or expansions. Your work will play a key role in supporting GEA’s continued growth by producing accurate, competitive, and high-quality proposals that align with both client needs and our internal standards.
This role involves a combination of office-based work and site visits, depending on inquiry requirements and business needs. You will report directly to the Head of Service Offer Management, and the position does not include any direct reports.
Proposal Development:
Prepare detailed proposals for service contracts, large spare parts packages, process audits, and process upgrades/expansions.
Work closely with sales and technical teams to gather necessary information, ensuring all client specifications and requirements are met in the proposal.
The candidate needs to be able to make process flow diagrams and produce technical P&ID’s.
Cost Estimation & Analysis:
Calculate and compile associated costs, including parts, labour, and subcontractor expenses.
Collaborate with internal departments, inter-company partners, and third-party suppliers to secure accurate and competitive pricing.
Ensure that all proposals adhere to budget requirements while maximizing profitability.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination:
Work with external suppliers and installation contractors to secure quotes, negotiate terms, and assess lead times.
Build and maintain relationships with third-party suppliers to improve reliability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
Technical & Commercial Alignment:
Ensure that proposals are technically feasible and commercially viable by coordinating with engineering, service, and procurement teams.
Review and validate all technical and commercial elements in each proposal, making sure all terms, conditions, and specifications are accurate.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline the proposal process, improve cost estimation accuracy, and increase response speed.
Regularly analyse market trends and competitor offerings to ensure GEA proposals remain competitive and innovative.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of proposals, cost estimates, and project scope details for future reference and analysis.
Provide regular status updates and reports on proposal activity, successes, and areas for improvement to management.
A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Proven experience in proposal engineering, cost estimation, or a similar role within an industrial or process engineering environment.
Demonstrated experience in hygienic processing within the food, dairy, or beverage industries is essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for cost modelling and analysis.
CAD experience is required, with the ability to create process flow diagrams and technical P&IDs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Excellent analytical skills for accurate cost estimation, budgeting, and decision-making.
High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy in both technical and commercial aspects of proposals.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently and prioritise workload effectively.
Solid experience in vendor negotiation and supplier relationship management.
