Student Intern for the North American IT On-Site Services Department.

Your responsibilities and tasks:

GEA, a leading global supplier for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors, is seeking an enthusiastic On-Site Services Intern to join our new Janesville, WI facility. In this role, you'll play a critical part in supporting the successful operation of IT systems across all our sites in the United States and Canada.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with the On-Site Services team to manage IT service delivery, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) with internal and external providers.

  • Be the champion for our regional IT users, monitoring tickets and intervening when needed to resolve issues and improve satisfaction.

  • Act as the go-to escalation point for users facing complex problems.

  • Support the seamless deployment and ongoing functionality of essential corporate applications and services.

  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues across departments and key stakeholders to ensure clear communication and collaboration.

  • Streamline processes for IT service delivery, implementing improvements and maintaining comprehensive documentation.

  • Collaborate with peers in other locations to share best practices and enhance overall service quality.

  • Provide technical support for local hardware, including PCs, printers, mobile, and various network devices.

  • Proactively ensure high availability of IT systems to keep our business operations running smoothly.

  • Assist with planning and managing the lifecycle and roadmap for local IT services.

  • Utilize the ServiceNow ITSM platform to effectively manage calls, escalations, and adhere to agreed-upon SLAs and metrics.

  • Champion continuous service improvement through process enhancements, documentation of solutions, and user training initiatives.

  • Lend support during IT user relocation activities, including colleague moves, office relocations, and acquisitions.

  • Provide IT support to senior executives as needed.

Your profile and qualifications:

  • Academic Background: Currently pursuing or hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in the Microsoft ecosystem, including Windows, Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Teams, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint.

    • Working knowledge of IT networking and related equipment (PCs, printers, scanners, switches, firewalls, UPS, wireless systems, sensors, etc.).
       

  • Soft Skills:

    • Customer Focus: Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service, with a friendly and empathetic approach.

    • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

    • Problem-Solving: A resourceful and creative thinker with a proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues independently.

    • Initiative and Drive: Highly motivated and self-directed, with a proactive approach to work and a commitment to achieving results.

    • Adaptability and Learning: Eager to learn new skills and adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

    • Teamwork: A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic international environment.

    • Reliability and Trustworthiness: A dependable individual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to upholding confidentiality.

    • Travel: Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
       

Bonus Points:

  • Experience using IT service management tools (like ServiceNow).

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
