Let GEA kytero® reduce your dependency on bulky and cumbersome filtration assemblies! Using the disk stack separator can reduce the required filter area by 100% in the primary clarification step and by about 50 % in the secondary step. Save valuable floorspace, storage room, waste and valuable manpower necessary to replace used filters. Plus, no fallback systems are needed to cover for blocked filters.
The machine’s separation efficiency has been tested at the Centre for Biochemical Engineering and Cell Cultivation Techniques at the Zurich University of Applied Science (ZHAW). The researchers used a Chinese hamster ovary cell line that produces the mAb immunoglobulin. The disk stack separator produced similar or better clarification results than comparable separation solutions, such as filtration systems, with a much easier and safer operation principle.
In a field test by a GEA customer, a medium-scale production facility was able to save 80 % of normally applied filter area with the disk stack separator. “We are very happy with the design, the overall performance, low noise and ease of use of this single-use skid,” said a representative.
