The sustainable choice

In the industrial processing industries, reducing CO2 footprint and cost are top priorities. Yet, the significant impact of compressed air applications on energy consumption often goes unnoticed.
At GEA, we’re proud to show our customers a practical way to dial down these costs and the ecological footprint. Our recommendation: Make conventional 6 bar system pressure a thing of the past – reduce system pressure in your plant to 4 bar and save costly energy every day!

At GEA we are continually innovating to improve our customers’ efficiency, reduce their consumption of valuable resources and improve sustainability.
The Low air pressure valve has been awarded the GEA Add Better label* for its positive impact on reduced energy consumption.
Energy savings are based on testing 4 bar actuators under standard operating conditions as well as calculations compared to 6 bar actuators.
*The add Better label relates to the Low air pressure valve using less than 6 bar air pressure, released in 2025, which saves 10% of energy in comparison to conventionally used 6 bar actuator.Reducing the system pressure to 4 bar requires adjustments to compressors and pneumatic devices. Among these, air-driven actuators on process valves play a vital role in automated process control. In the past, the valves have often been a limiting factor when plant operators were considering changing the system pressure. Traditionally, 6 bar or higher pressures were recommended for reliable valve operation. Valve configurations that were suitable for lower pressures were thus only available to a limited extent.

Make conventional 6 bar system pressure a thing of the past – reduce system pressure in your plant to 4 bar and save costly energy every day!
At GEA, we’ve overcome the obstacles that held you back in the past: Our current GEA VARIVENT® modular valve system and our GEA Hygienic butterfly valve portfolio boast a comprehensive range of hygienic valve types that can be modified or newly acquired with modern actuators tailored to 4 bar pressure – a world’s first! Now, you can easily upgrade or equip any process line with these proven valves in sustainable, cost-saving 4-bar configurations, without any compromise regarding your process reliability and performance.

Consult with our sales team and find out how much you can save! The ROI calculation should be done case by case and needs a review and evaluation of the specific plant.
Reducing air pressure yields valuable energy savings and also means fewer losses from friction and leakage for maximum cost-efficiency and sustainable plant operation.
