GEA has once again earned the highest rating – Platinum – in the globally recognized EcoVadis sustainability assessment. With a score of 92 out of 100, the machinery and plant manufacturer has improved significantly from last year’s result of 82 points. For the second year in a row, GEA ranks among the top one percent of more than 150,000 rated companies across 185 countries.
The ten-point increase reflects improvements across all four EcoVadis categories: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. GEA achieved the maximum score of 100/100 in the ‘Environment’ category. The company also received full marks in ‘Policies, Measures, and Reporting’ across all four categories.
For the first time, the 2025 EcoVadis assessment included GEA’s ‘Top Employer’ certification in six European countries. The independent recognition by the Top Employers Institute confirms GEA’s strong performance in areas such as sustainability, leadership, and purpose – criteria directly reflected in the EcoVadis category ‘Labor and Human Rights’.
Chief Sustainability Officer Dr. Nadine Sterley: “At GEA, we take a holistic approach to sustainability – and that explicitly includes the social dimension. Improving from an already high level shows that we’re not just holding our position; we’re making progress. The fact that our Top Employer certification now contributes to our EcoVadis score reinforces the consistency of our approach. Our platinum rating stands for reliability: customers and partners can count on a company that not only talks about sustainability – but puts it into measurable action across the entire value chain.”
The EcoVadis rating has become the international standard for evaluating sustainability in supply chains. Many companies use the independent rating as a key factor when selecting suppliers. GEA’s top score signals to customers and stakeholders that the company not only defines the highest sustainability standards, but also consistently delivers on them.
The EcoVadis methodology is based on international standards such as the UN Global Compact, ILO conventions, and ISO 26000. A team of independent experts thoroughly reviews submitted documentation, evaluates specific actions, and validates measurable outcomes.
A GEA é uma das maiores fornecedoras para a indústria de processamento de alimentos e para uma ampla variedade de outras indústrias que geraram receitas consolidadas de aproximadamente EUR 4,9 bilhões em 2019.
