GEA kytero workshop

Get to know our new hero – GEA kytero®, the single-use disc stack pharma separator at Biotech Training Facility in Leiden, the Netherlands

GEA kytero® workshop

On the 14th of November, 2023 at Biotech Training Facility in Leiden we would like to introduce to you the GEA kytero®  – the high-yield cell harvesting solution. Join our workshop to discover in practice and in theory what our single-use pharmaceutical centrifuge GEA kytero® can bring to your clarifying process. Our experts Edwin Telgenkamp and Andreas Biewald will share how disc stack separation technology makes a difference in terms of optimizing clarification efficiency, reducing filter area and saving labor, space and materials. And last but not least: ensures biocontainment.

Less filtration, more yield, no CIP/SIP

All connections, tubes and assisting components are included for plug & produce operation. No need for CIP/SIP to prepare the next batch – simply disconnect the bowl cartridge, single-use bags and hoses and clip on a new set – no tools required! You are ready for the next batch in 5 minutes! If you wish you can experience this easiness yourself during the workshop in the clean room.

High safety in a closed system

This closed system ensures that the product is never in contact with the atmosphere. All the single-use parts are approved for biopharma applications (USP Class VI, BPSA, BPOG) and shipped to you in a double-bag under sterile conditions - upon request pre-sterilized by gamma irradiation. This maximum-safety concept helps ensure a speedy production.

World’s first contact-free drive

GEA kytero breezeDrive system

As the first separator on the market, the GEA kytero® machine is equipped with a contact-free, no-contamination drive system for its separation bowl. The revolutionary GEA breezeDrive® system drives the bowl without any shafts and bearings or mechanical seals – the failsafe way to avoid otherwise inevitable abrasions and to prevent resulting impurities in the product. This innovation is also appreciated for the very low noise level in the production or lab environment.

Almost 130 years’ experience at work

GEA’s large, stainless steel disc stack separators have for decades been a mainstay in safe and reliable biopharma manufacturing processes of all global manufacturers. The GEA kytero® machine is by heritage equipped for performance. It benefits from the larger models’ advanced bowl design with enlarged clarification area, compared to traditional single use technologies, for highest separation efficiency and yield. Test & Buy options can be offered.
