In gas turbine power plants, lube oil plays a vital role in protecting rotating components and ensuring smooth, efficient performance. Over time, however, the oil becomes contaminated with fine metal particles, dust, condensate and decomposition products. These impurities settle in the lube oil sump and accelerate oil aging especially when acids react with contaminants.
Water ingress is another critical issue. If not removed, it promotes oxidation and bacterial growth, leading to premature oil degradation and increased maintenance needs. Left untreated, these issues can compromise turbine reliability and increase downtime.
