الكحوليات
الكحوليات هي مذيبات هامة ومواد خام للعديد من المنتجات في الصناعة الكيميائية.
تُستخدم الكحوليات ذات مجموعات الهيدروكسيل المتعددة في البلمرة. بعيدا عن الكحوليات الطبيعية، مثل الجليسرين على سبيل المثال، يتم إنتاج الكحوليات عن طريق تخمير مواد أساسية تحتوي على النشا أو السكر.
يتم تركيز الكحوليات القصيرة السلسلة مثل الميثانول والإيثانول عن طريق التقطير. يمكن تركيز الكحوليات ذات السلاسل الأطول مع قابلية تطاير أقل للبخار في محطات التبخير بطبقة ساقطة. وغالبا ما تكون الفواصل مجهزة بأعمدة غسل من أجل تقليل الفاقد في المنتج عبر مرحلة البخار.
أغلب الكحوليات المركزة في محطات التقطير هي الميثانول والإيثانول. يتم تركيز كلا من 2-بروبانول و ن-بوتانول في محطات التبخر.
