This means you will perform on-site preventive and corrective maintenance on high-value GEA industrial machinery, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and automation system faults. You will also execute equipment upgrades, retrofits, and precision component replacements.
Part of the job will also be to lead the on-site installation, start-up, and commissioning of new food production equipment. This entails conducting rigorous testing to ensure machines meet GEA performance and safety specifications before handover.
Furthermore, you will:
Provide high-level technical consultation and troubleshooting support to customers both on-site and remotely.
Train customer operators and maintenance staff on proper machine handling and daily care.
Identify opportunities for equipment optimization and recommend parts, upgrades, or service contracts.
Execute all service tasks in strict compliance with GEA safety protocols and food safety regulations.
Complete detailed service reports, timesheets, and technical documentation accurately and on time.
Manage personal inventory of tools, safety gear, and spare parts assigned for service trips.
We are looking for a new colleague with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for solving complex, real-time technical problems. You also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with a strong customer-centric attitude, and you are willing to travel frequently to customer sites (up to 70–80%), including overnight stays.
Finally, we imagine that you:
Hold a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Possess strong multi-disciplinary technical knowledge across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Are proficient in reading technical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
Have knowledge of PLC automation systems, such as Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell, is highly advantageous.
Have proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or Technician working with complex industrial machinery, ideally within the food, dairy, or pharmaceutical sectors.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Are fluent in Finnish and also in English, the GEA Group language.
