During this seminar, we will learn about different methods of tablet weight control and its sensitivity. Other topics to be covered include how easy it is for operators to ensure accurate weight control on a GEA press, while considering batch-to-batch changes in powder characteristics, and how weight control for small tablets is affected as the press warms up after start-up.
On a GEA press, weight and hardness control can be set-up independently from each other. Whereas weight control is critically important for the content uniformity, hardness relates to the tablet’s dissolution time and fragility. I will examine different methods of tablet hardness control and how to minimize its variation.
For bilayer tablets, the accurate weight control of each layer is crucial, as is preventing separation and achieving the required final tablet hardness. With a GEA press, equipped with an intuitive and visual control system (MC-5) and UA-OPC connectivity to your MES, this is easily done.
