The company was founded in 1947 by the Soavi family. The “Soavi Bruno & Figli” was established in Parma and it soon committed to engineering and producing high pressure homogenizers for the dairy industry.
1960 - Technical machines features
High pressure homogenizers had a “diamond” shape, they were characterized by a trapezoidal belt transmission and a manual wheel to actuate the homogenizing valve. This configuration was the most efficient and convenient for milk and dairy processing applications.
1980 - Market expansion
Following the enlarging of the market needs, the machines were re-designed with new chain transmission for higher flow rates and different compression blocks. When the company started to treat other products in addition to milk, the compression block changed to meet the new applications requirements: for abrasive products in the chemical field or for products rich in fibers or crystals in the food & beverage industries a new resistant material needed to be used.
1990 - Acquisition by Niro Atomizer
The Italian company was acquired by the Danish Niro Atomizer, a spry dryer producer, and the acquisition further strengthened the company presence in worldwide markets.
1992 - Further technical evolution
New and significant further technical improvement started during the ’90, especially in regards of the homogenizing valve. The pneumatic actuation was implemented and different valve designs were engineered in order to optimize the use of energy inside the valves.
1993 - Acquisition by GEA Group
The company became part of GEA Group, a global and technological leader company in engineering and manufacturing so that, together with the reliability of the brand, GEA Niro Soavi became leader in the homogenization technology.
2010 - GEA Mechanical Equipment Segment
Within the Group, GEA Niro Soavi became part of the business division Mechanical Equipment Segment together with some other companies in order to bundle all the GEA competencies about Liquids.
2015 - BA-Equipment Product Group Homogenization
Since 2015 GEA expertise in high pressure homogenization turned into the Product Group Homogenization which is more and more determined to further reinforce the position as technology leader in high pressure homogenization thanks to research and development projects focused on customer requirements.
2018 - The revolutionary NiSoX-Valve
One of the most successful and recent product that has been developed for the homogenization process. The optimized design technology increases the fluid dynamic homogenization effects and it offers best performances especially with micro and nanoemulsions in pharma, cosmetic and chemical industries. Have a look on its performaces.
