High shear granulation is one of the most important and frequently used unit operations in the production of homogenous, free-flowing feedstocks for tablet compression in the pharma industry.
However, the scale-up and transfer of this process can be challenging, with many operators relying on personal experience and historical use. This can lead to expensive product losses and increased time-to-market.
The underutilisation of equipment can also cause problems, hamper development and result in poor returns on investment. Based on academic research, this presentation will highlight a scientific approach to granulation scale-up.
