В What attracted you to GEA?
I actually came from one of GEA’s big competitors, a US headquartered company, where decisions tended to be taken in the US. So I was drawn to GEA which has a much better localized management infrastructure. GEA is also seen as highly professional, with long term visions for growth fueled by inward investment – this really appealed to me, so I decided to make the jump.
From my experience over the last few years, GEA is really strong at encouraging initiative, it actively seeks people with ideas and the ability to implement them. For me it is really important to feel like I can directly contribute and not just be a cog in the wheel. GEA gives its people the ability to do exactly that.
В What has your personal career path through GEA been?
I have only been at GEA for a few years, but in that time I have held a number of different positions and been involved with a variety of projects and programs. Due to the nature of GEAs growth, much of my focus has been inward on structures and internal operations, however the new organization will provide the stability needed to focus on growth through sales excellence and a much stronger product design and delivery network.
В What do you enjoy most about your job?
I think it would have to be the variety. Within this week, I will be visiting internal customers in Amsterdam to talk about how we can better support the Danish food preparation installed base with spare parts and services; I will be working on the integration of the service function of our newly acquired company ‘Hilge’; I will be working on strategic topics for creating more efficiency within the order desk function and I will be working on 2 different business cases for bringing new functions into our service organization. How is that for diverse? It is certainly never boring!
В What are your ambitions for the future?
I’m fairly ambitious – I’d like to get to the top of a decent sized company, partly because I’ll never be satisfied doing a routine 9-5 type job, but mainly because all the things I enjoy doing from a work perspective tend to happen at board level. Plus, I would like to retire when I am young enough to be able to enjoy the benefits of all the hard work!
