1947 - A story that starts with a family
The company was founded in 1947 by the Soavi family. The Soavi Bruno & Figli firm was established in Parma and soon dedicated itself to engineering and producing high-pressure homogenizers for the dairy industry.

1960 - Technical machines features
High-pressure homogenizers had a characteristic diamond shape, a trapezoidal belt transmission and a manual wheel to actuate the homogenizing valve. This configuration was the most efficient and convenient for milk and dairy processing applications.

1980 - Market expansion
As market needs continued to broaden, the machines were re-designed with a new chain transmission for higher flow rates and different compression blocks. When the company started to treat other products in addition to milk, the compression block changed to meet the new applications requirements: for abrasive products in the chemical field or for products rich in fibers or crystals in the food & beverage industry, a new resistant material needed to be used.

1990 - Acquisition by Niro Atomizer
The Italian company was acquired by Danish firm Niro Atomizer, a spray dryer producer, and the acquisition further strengthened the company’s presence in worldwide markets.

1992 - Further technical evolution
New and significant further technical improvements were introduced during the ’90s, especially as regards homogenizing valves. The pneumatic actuation was implemented, and different valve designs were engineered to optimize the use of energy inside the valves.

1993 - Acquisition by GEA Group
The company became part of the GEA Group, a global technology leader in engineering and manufacturing. This acquisition, together with the reliability of the brand, enabled GEA Niro Soavi to become a leader in homogenization technology.

2010 - GEA Mechanical Equipment Segment
GEA Niro Soavi and a number of other Group companies became part of the Mechanical Equipment Segment business division, with a view to consolidating all of GEA’s expertise in the field of liquids.

2015 - BA-Equipment Product Group Homogenization
Since 2015, GEA’s expertise in high-pressure homogenization has transformed into the Homogenization Product Group, which is increasingly determined to further reinforce the Group’s position as technology leader in high-pressure homogenization, thanks to research and development projects focused on customer requirements.

2018 - The revolutionary NiSoX-Valve
One of the most successful recent products developed for the homogenization process. The optimized design technology increases the fluid dynamic homogenization effects, and it offers best performance especially with micro and nanoemulsions in the pharma, cosmetic and chemical industries.
