Screw Conveyors

GEA Screw Conveyors are available in a wide range of styles for general conveying applications as well as for silo discharge duties.

Single units with variable pitch augers or multiple auger units for difficult products may be used to assist the discharge of materials with poor flow properties from silos. Primary considerations for the selection of a screw conveyor are: Type and condition of the material to be handled, including maximum particle size, and the bulk density of the material to be conveyed. Quantity of transported material, expressed in pounds or tons per hour. The distance for which the material is to be conveyed.

A wide range of features are available, including:

  • heavy duty construction (mild steel, 304/316 stainless steel or special alloys)
  • customized designs to suit your application
  • sanitary design to dairy standards
  • polished internal/external surface
  • outboard bearings and packed gland/air purged shaft seals
  • tubular/trough designs with access and inspection covers
  • elevating screws
  • variable pitch augers to stimulate mass flow
  • half pitch augers to prevent flushing of free-flowing fluidized products
  • double flight designs to provide even continuous discharge rates
  • “live bed” multi-auger designs for cohesive or easily bridging products
  • tapered, ribbon, cut flights and paddles for special applications
  • reverse flights at discharge ends to assist discharge and prevent compaction
  • suitable for indoor or outdoor applications
  • multi-inlet/outlet designs to suit special applications
  • gear motor drive: direct or chain
  • motor options: standard, flameproof, Exe, DIP, voltages to suit
  • wide choice of additional options such as demountable/sanitary options, access covers, drive, bearings, shaft seals, shear pins and added control features
