GEA’s oil & gas team was selected to supply ICL with two, complete refrigeration compression packages to cool chlorine and bromine mixtures. The scope of supply for each of the custom-engineered packages comprise a compressor skid with an oil circuit, a water-cooled condenser skid and an evaporator skid with interconnecting piping between the three units.

To optimize the project CAPEX and OPEX, GEA’s Italy-based oil & gas team collaborated with colleagues at the GEA compressor factory in Berlin, Germany, to define the optimal approach, which included using standard GEA compressor packages featuring the GEA Omni control panel. This reduced level of required customization and the benefit of working with an internal GEA supplier for these key system components, provided a value-added cost benefit to the customer based on GEA’s global presence and the synergistic advantage of its diverse portfolio, which includes a leadership position in compression technology.

Past ICL projects delivered by GEA Group include supplying a green (phosphoric) acid concentration plant and several large emission control systems for dedusting and absorption of toxic gases.
