GEA Liquid Nitrogen Freezer Pilot Plant

On the booth, you will be able to explore GEA’s newly developed Liquid Nitrogen Freezer Pilot Plant. Designed for extremely fast freezing, the system optimizes the production process and throughput, and ensures that ideal conditions are created for downstream lyophilization of fermentation-derived ingredients. 

With a nitrogen freezer pilot plant, customers can rent a unit to undertake small-scale tests at their own location before investing in a full-scale industrial plant. As bacterial cultures decay rapidly after the fermentation, it is a clear advantage to be able to freeze rapidly and to conduct tests on site next to the fermentation line. With the LNF-6 Pilot Plant, we can deliver demonstrable benefits to our customers at a low cost.

MOBILE MINOR® Spray Dryer

Take the chance to get a closer look at the cross-application MOBILE MINOR® spray dryer. It is an industry benchmark system where producing small-volume powder samples that can be scaled up to production volumes is concerned, and a clear example of how the merging of our engineering expertise and processing experience delivers tangible value to our customers when designing and creating new products.

The spray dryer delivers the robustness, the reliability and the versatility you need when up-scaling for a new process. Proven in an installed base of close to 2400 plants worldwide, customers find it easy to use, easy to clean and simple to move to where it is needed. The MOBILE MINOR® comes in special standard versions for operations where safety levels need to be further enhanced. It is always of paramount importance, particularly for powders prone to dust explosion or for feeds based on organic solvents for example.

  • Accurate gas disperser with laser-cut guides to minimize powder deposits (patented)

Spray dried and freeze dried product samples

The process of freeze drying brings with it many advantages. From storage to logistics and beyond, no refrigeration is required, shelf-life is extended and the end products can often be consumed with minimal effort in terms of preparation – making them the ideal format for convenience foodstuffs. 

Spray dried products feature tailored particle size distribution; free-flowing and dust-free powders; and excellent dispersibility, and at Fi Europe 2019 GEA will display a wide variety of freeze dried and spray dried product samples for visitors to the booth to view close up. Drop by the stand to see everything from frozen shrimps and strawberries to spray dried flavors and milk powder.

Henrik Stillhoff Nielsen, Drying Specialist at GEA, will be on stage to guide you through different process technologies for the drying of a range of fruits, including apples, berries and tomatoes.

Also, freeze drying of fruit, spray drying of fruit purées and juices, as well as encapsulation of natural fruit flavors will be covered.
