Q What attracted you to GEA?
Having lived in New Zealand for more than 10 years, I was looking for a larger company that would provide me with a professional work environment allowing me to develop new concepts and ideas and see them taken to the market within a short period of time. To see a product grow from a first idea to the worldwide implementation is challenging and makes me very proud of being part of GEA.
Q What does your role involve?
My main task is to evaluate new technologies and create new products, especially in relation to precision livestock farming and animal health. In particular, I am trying out new sensors which provide information about dairy cattle health and behaviour to optimize milking systems. Because of my background, I understand the best way to use technology to produce milk more efficiently.
Q What is your biggest challenge?
Creating new technology for dairy farmers is always a challenge, especially to identify the needs of our clients and deliver commercial solutions. But I am the person to come to with difficult questions and ideas.
Q What do you enjoy most about your job?
It is a great working environment where you are given the freedom to think. At GEA there are many highly specialized people coming together from a variety of backgrounds. So you have somebody to ponder your ideas with and find solutions for questions as a team which in turn means to get the best results for the company and of course on a personal level.
For the same reason, I feel that I am making a contribution to improving dairy farms and that GEA and my colleagues appreciate my work.
