Keeping Travellers Cool

The use of modern air conditioning systems in buses is standard nowadays, to provide an optimum, safe and pleasant environment for the bus driver and for the passengers.

GEA vehicle compressors used for bus air conditioning

Bus Air Conditioning

An efficient and reliable air conditioning system is needed to maintain a constant temperature of about 22°C in the interior of buses, whether the outside temperature is tropical or sub-zero. GEA commercial vehicle compressors can be found at the heart of air conditioning systems in thousands of diesel-driven and electrically operated MAN, Evobus, Setra, Solaris and IVECO buses.

GEA’s FK series of vehicle compressors is characterized by a lightweight, compact and highly robust design, a wide speed range and an efficient operating performance. FK40 and FK50 compressors are ideally suited for use in diesel-driven buses.  Two-, four- and six-cylinder compressors are available, with many different design versions, which allows for customization to individual requirements.

GEA also offers one of the broadest ranges of sustainable and efficient semi-hermetic compressors, for mobile air conditioning in trolley, hybrid and electric buses. The suction gas-cooled HG series, which is also available as a lightweight aluminium version, exhibits smooth and silent operation, easy maintenance, high efficiency and reliability.
